Start with scope, not the number
Two quotes can both say website and mean different amounts of work. Before you compare prices, compare scope: how many pages, whether it sells or books anything, how many locations, who writes the content, whether photography or video is needed, and what it must connect to.
What should always be included
- Copywriting, not placeholder text.
- On-page SEO, never a separate line.
- A layout built to turn visits into enquiries.
- Custom design for your business.
- A page for each service or offering.
- Structured data and internal links.
- At least one lead form, quote or booking flow.
If SEO or copy is extra, you are comparing a smaller site. Speed and accessibility belong in the scope too: see Google's Core Web Vitals and the WCAG accessibility standards.
Our prices
A website build starts from $2,700 in the United States and $2,160 in South Africa (about R35,100). Complex builds run up to about $7,650 or $6,120 (about R99,400). Care, which covers monthly checks, rankings, content refreshes and hosting, is $850 a month or $680 a month in South Africa (about R11,000). An SEO and conversion fix on an existing site starts from $550 or $440 (about R7,200). Rand prices move with the exchange rate and tax is added where it applies.
Setup and monthly fees are always separate lines, and ad spend, if you run ads, goes to the platform from your own account. Every figure is on the pricing page.
Why there is a range
A fixed price for everyone would overcharge some businesses and under-deliver for others. The floor is the lowest we will take a job on. Below it, a template or a do-it-yourself tool is the honest answer, and we will say so.
What to ask any agency
- What exactly is in the scope, page by page?
- Who writes the copy and sources the images?
- Is SEO included or extra?
- What do I own at the end? (We wrote five questions on that.)
- What does it cost to keep the site healthy afterwards?
